Black Box Performing Arts Center (a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in Teaneck in 2015 and relocated to Englewood in 2019), and Black Box Studios (which has operated in Bergen County since 2007), together form Northern NJ’s premiere theater and performing arts school combo. The Black Box is a working professional theater run by a small, tight-knit group of collaborative artists. Starting Fall 2021 we sought press-worthy, artistically satisfying opportunities to save our Northern NJ theater during the height of the pandemic. This led to The Black Box’s incubation of new and under-produced plays by world-class artists. Our team is also focused on presenting other art forms within the space, such as comedy and music, as we host the emergence of a new and unique artistic community.
Agreed upon vision to unite and draw strength from:
Collaboration: to create bonds of loyalty and friendship among working and aspiring artists
Culture: to elevate the human spirit through the transformative power of art.
Community: to serve the creative needs and aspirations of the town, County and beyond
